SA Road Trip Update
We’re just back from the Eastern Cape leg of the road trip to promote the National HIV & TB Health Care Worker Hotline. Over 1 500 km and more than fifty clinic/hospital visits and poster drop-offs took us from East London to Aliwal North, the Karoo and back down to fly out of Port Elizabeth, over a 10-day period.
Beautiful scenery, extreme temperatures (both cold and unseasonably hot – it was 30 degrees in PE on the 1st of June!), many back roads, potholes and ‘Stop ‘n Gos’ took us to clinics with wonderful, welcoming staff who loved the posters. Most of the health care workers we met had not heard of the hotline, so hopefully we’ll be getting more calls and providing more help in the treatment of HIV and TB, especially to rural areas with little back-up!
Next up, KZN. You can follow our travels on our Facebook page.
