Sugar content of childrens’ fruit drinks and smoothies

A UK survey examined the sugar content of various fruit drinks and smoothies aimed particularly at children. Many single products were found to contain in excess of 19g of sugars which is the entire maximum recommended daily amount of free sugar for children.

With rising rates of childhood obesity and associated morbidity, parents need to be vigilant about excessive sugar intake in their children.
