Many healthcare professionals in the mental healthcare space have been of the opinion that restrictions on the use of clozapine are unnecessarily onerous. The FDA recently announced their Risk Evaluation and Management Strategies (REMS) for clozapine are no longer necessary.

This will reduce bureaucratic obstacles to clozapine access, whilst still ensuring regular monitoring of absolute neutrophil counts at recommended intervals.
